What does it mean to be an interculturalist these days? {Free Chat Replay}

I love conversations where I (re)examine a concept central to the work I do. On June 4, Melissa, Carrie, and I hosted such a conversation. The three of us had been talking about what it means to be an interculturalist these days and wondered what it means to other people in the field.
During our chat I realized that I had developed a very specific idea of what an interculturalist is based on how I got into the field and living in the US. It was fascinating to hear the various perspectives on being an interculturalist from YOU, the participants!
Here are the questions we discussed:
- What are the characteristics of an interculturalist?
- How is this an adequate representation of theĀ interculturalists we know? Of ourselves?
- Where do these characteristics come from? How are our ideas of what it means to be an interculturalist formed?
- What kind of interculturalist does the world need today and in the future?
Carrie, Melissa, and I enjoyed the conversation so much that we’re planning to host two more. I’ll let you know when we’ve got them scheduled. I hope you’ll join us.
In the meantime, you can watch the re-play of our chat below.
